Linking Military Disney Discounted Tickets and Shades of Green Reservations

If you are staying at Shades of Green Military Resort and/or have Military Disney Discounted Tickets, there are a few extra steps you will need to do prior to your trip. Find all the details below.

Shades of Green Resort Reservations

Just a quick refresher, if you don’t know what Shades of Green is, it is a Military only resort ON Walt Disney World property. The resort is open to all Service Members on Active Duty, Retired, Reserves, National Guard, DoD Employees, Purple Heart Recipients, Veterans with a VA-documented service-related injuries and a few others. To see if you are eligible to stay at Shades of Green resort, check out the eligibility requirements.

Once you’ve secured a resort reservation at Shades of Green you are going to need to link that reservation to your My Disney Experience account. If you don’t already have a My Disney Experience account, you can create a new account HERE. When you are linking your Shades of Green resort reservation, you should use a computer or your phones browser. DO NOT use the Walt Disney World app.

Once you get logged in, you will see the screen above. Click on “Link a Reservation”. And click on “Link a Reservation” you will be brought to the screen below. You will need to enter the last name of whoever the reservation is under (even if you are sponsoring a room for a family member, the service member/sponsor’s last name will be the one you need to enter here).

When linking your resort reservation, you are going to need your reservation confirmation number. When you book your room, either leave that tab open so you can copy & paste your confirmation number (NOTE: It can take up to 72 hours after booking for your reservation to link to your My Disney Experience account. So, if you get an error message, wait a day or two and try again). Or if you are linking your reservation afterwards, you can find that confirmation number on your confirmation email from Shades of Green.

An Important Note: When you book your Shades of Green reservation, make sure that you enter the correct number of guests traveling in your party. This is important because when you link your reservation to your My Disney Experience account, it will ask you to update the guests’ names. Once you click “done”, you WILL NOT be able to edit your reservation without having to call Disney IT support.
You will also want to make sure that everyone is linked to your My Disney Experience account, so the correct guests have a theme park ticket and theme park reservation linked to them. For Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours, someone in your party will have their MagicBand or park ticket scanned, and a Cast Member will confirm the number of people. It will also be important if you plan to purchase Disney Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane selections. The app will automatically select the people linked to your plans.

Linking Theme Park Tickets

Just like linking your resort reservation, linking your park tickets has to be done on your My Disney Experience account. This doesn’t have to be done on a computer for your browser but it’s just my personal preference to do so. On a browser, you’re going to see the My Disney Experience dashboard and under Park Tickets you’re going to select “Link Tickets”. From the app, you’ll see three little lines in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Then you will need to tap on “Tickets & Passes” and then “Link Tickets & Passes”. At this point, you will then enter the code on the back of your Park Tickets and assign each park ticket to a member of your party.

*If you just created your My Disney Experience account you will want to add all the members of your party BEFORE linking the Park Tickets.

Once you have everyone in your party linked with a Theme Park Ticket you are going to want to make your Theme Park Reservations. Theme Park Reservations are REQUIRED to enter any of the four theme parks at Walt Disney World. You will make a Park Reservation for every day you wish to be in the parks. Each day you will make a Park Reservation for one park, guaranteeing your entrance into that specific park. If you have a Park Hopper Ticket, after 2pm you will be able to hop to any of the other three theme parks and you will NOT need a Park Reservation for any other parks once Park Hopping hours start. IF a park you are attempting to Hop to is at Capacity, you will not be able to enter that park. So when leaving your Morning Park, you can ask a Cast Member as you’re leaving if any of the parks are at Capacity. *You will have guaranteed entry into your Morning Park (or the Park that you made Park Reservations for that day) for the ENTIRE day.

But wait. Where can I buy discounted Military Park Tickets?

If you still need to buy your discounted Military Park Tickets you have a couple options. You can buy discounted Military Park Tickets at your local installation’s MWR or ITT. Or you can purchase them from Shades of Green Ticket Office.

There are a couple different discounted ticket options. Depending on if you’re Active Duty, Retired or a Veteran that Honorably Served, there might be a certain ticket type you will be eligible to buy.

Disney Military Promotional Tickets

The Military Promotional Ticket or also referred to as The Military Salute Tickets are for Service Members who are Active Duty, Retired, in the National Guard, a Reservist, in the Coast Guard and a few others. The picture above shows all the different Military IDs that are accepted for these Promotional Tickets. These tickets are DEEPLY discounted.

Magic Your Way Tickets

If you are a Veteran who has Honorably Served, do not fret! There are still discounted tickets you can purchase! Magic Your Way Tickets will still save you a couple hundred dollar versus paying full price from Disney.

If you want to know all about the different Military discounted tickets, check out my Walt Disney World Military Discounts post.

I hope this post helps you with all your Shades of Green or Military discounted ticket questions. If you have a specific question that I did not answer here, please drop a comment and I’d be happy to answer it!

Spreading magic one post at a time
